The centre of Zahara has small hotels and pensions that are cheap, clean, comfortable and from which all shops / bars are easily reachable. Alternatively there is a modern-style hotel located just beyond the centre and below the old village walled gateway. All have the formidable views that this mountain village boasts.
I think it unlikely that you must book in advance for a room.
There is also a charming 17th century – siglo XVII - olive mill just a couple of hundred metres out of the village. Here they cold press virgin olive oil and sell handmade products such as honey, pollen, confitures, farmer’s sweet sherry etc…The owner has converted one of the old store houses into a self-sufficient house for rent with a swimming pool on the side. The views from here across la Sierra are magnificent.
