Subject: My best cordero ever:-)

A romantic Mediterranean Spanish scene. A distant white bell tower seen from across hot terra-cotta roof tiles. Hi there:) I'm not sure if this is the right adress for Zahara de la Sierra but I'll give it a try...I was hoping you could get me the adress of a restaurant in Zahara, couldn't find any email for the visitor center so..

Anyway, me and my dad was in Zahara last week just for one night and we loved it. We stayed at the Marques. We walked up to the castle late in the evening and got a magnificent view as the sun set:) We wanted to have a late dinner and found the restaurant in the square to noisy but I remembered the restaurant at the bottom of the town so we went there. To my dismay we found it to be closed.

As we were walking away the owner came out and told us he was usually closed mondays but he would gladly open it for us as they were making dinner at the time. He offered us the full menu but recommended the dish they were making for supper. I agreed of course. While waiting he served us some truly delicious salad with melted goatcheese and a bowl of potaje de garbanzos which was equally delicious. When he came out with the main dish I just said madre mia. It was a huge piece of cordero cooked in oil and spices. He told me it was marinated with vinagre and local spices from the sierras. It is truly the most succulent and best meat I have ever had. For dessert he gave us some sweet castanas.

After paying the bill I asked to buy a couple of these castanas, to bring back to Norway. He gave me a jar full of these things and there was no way he would accept money for them. Then he went in to the house and came back with a jar of castanas al brandy, one of them which I'm having at this moment, as a special gift. He told me that they would be renting out rooms for visitors next year and I'm going there in march with my wife and daughter.

As chrismas is soon I would like to send something special from Norway to this kind man and his family. I would also like to ask them if it is possibly to rent a room for us three sometime in march. Is there any way for you to get me the adress and telephone to this place. If you have a mail-adress to the visitorcenter that would probably be sufficient. The restaurant is, as far as I can remember, the first restaurant in town when coming from algodonales, on the road to grazalema. Any help is greatly appreciated. If you want to post any of my Zahara-experience on your site you may do so but I'm afraid it is poorly written:( so change it if you want:)

Best wishes from Norway:)
